Fine Arts | Meet the Artist - Brandon Hurley

Meet the Artist

Brandon Hurley is an L.A.-based artist with deep roots in the California Bay Area, where he both started painting and went to college. During the 20+ years that Brandon has been in the fine arts game, he has explored various techniques and styles. Nowadays, you can find him communicating his art through urban surrealism, curating shows, and collaborating with artists that he holds deep reverence for.

Yesterday

It was 2010 when Brandon Hurley moved to San Francisco, CA. There, he would pursue his BFA in Illustration at the renowned Academy of Art University. Not long after his arrival, the young artist’s talent and determination would soon be recognized by the SF gallery scene. His early career began with shows at Wonderland and 111 Minna. During those younger years, he was not just learning how to deliver the work, but he was also learning how to curate shows.

In 2016, he relocated to Los Angeles, where he would establish his style in urban surrealism. During this period, he would work closely with his long-time friend and mentor, Irene Hernandez-Feiks. With Irene showing him the ropes, Brandon would help curate shows with gallery giants like the famed Mirus Gallery. This early experience would also lay the foundation for where the artist professionally stands today.

Today & Tomorrow

Today, Brandon continues to follow his passion for fine arts, as he continues to paint fervently and exhibit his work around L.A. It is not rare to see the artist doing up to 4 shows a month. You can also find him collaborating with fellow L.A. artists, such as Fabez, Iznifinite, and Art One, just to name a few.

Brandon is always striving to temper his craft with newfound methods and techniques. He looks forward to expanding his medium, color theory, compositions, and presentation, and especially looks forward to collaborating with more of the artists whom he knows and respects. Overall, Brandon lives to paint, and he spends every free hour he has continuing to learn and grow as an artist.
